Dave Simmons is a Senior Records Officer and Knowledge Management Specialist in GSA's IT Office of Enterprise Data & Privacy Management.

Active in developing GSA's Enterprise-wide Document Management System (EDMS) since 2013, Dave helped to guide the way to identify documents as records and manage them according to their retention schedules. EDMS Content count is currently at 30M documents with plans for doubling in the next 2 years. Ninety-eight percent of those EDMS documents are categorized as records.

Additionally, Dave has conducted content analyses on dozens of content sites scheduled for migration, and advised on many aspects of migration, meta-tagging and structuring content for the EDMS.

Currently, he is working with the EDMS developers to automate those processes of categorizing electronic content as records, disposing them on schedule, building a staging platform for transferring permanent electronic records to NARA, and creating certification reports for all record dispositions.
