As VP & MD of VOCalis at Digital Clarity Group, Alan has extensive experience working with senior executives around the world in business and IT. He has managed international teams of consultants and analysts focused on a wide range of business application software projects.
His work encompasses channel and partner management, project and change management, digital transformation and content management.
Alan has given keynotes, speeches and runs workshops around the globe. He is regularly quoted in both the business and IT press, including the BBC, Wall Street Journal, The Register and TechCrunch. Over the course of his career he has written literally hundreds of reports and authored the first book-length study in 1999 of the then newly emerging Web Content Management (WCM) sector.
Prior to DCG, Alan was the Research Director for Business Applications at 451 Research, and prior to that he was a partner and analyst at Real Story Group. Alan’s career has encompassed both consulting and analysis work, running the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) consulting practice at Indian outsourcing firm Wipro and starting his IT career with 10 years as a freelance consultant in the Oil & Gas sector. Originally from the UK, Alan moved to the Boston area in 2002 to run the North American division of research firm Ovum and in time settled and now calls the US home. Alan studied at the University of Leicester in England and later trained as an analytical psychotherapist.
Alan lives in rural New England with his wife, youngest daughter, and their overweight cat. Alan volunteers time in prisons running Alternative to Violence (AVP) workshops for and with inmates. He is also a sometime screen actor and when he has the time loves to fence competitively (Sabre).
