A 2013 Rising Star Award winner, Eric Brassil is the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for the State Department's Office of eDiplomacy.  In this capacity, he leads efforts to increase awareness and use of eDiplomacy's tools and platforms across State's 70,000+ member workforce in approximately 270 Embassies and Consulates worldwide.

eDiplomacy programs include a set of integrated knowledge leadership platforms (SearchState, Diplopedia, Communities@State, Corridor, The Current) that allow State employees to find what they need and empower them to share what they know.  In addition, eDiplomacy's Diplomatic Innovation Division manages programs that use new technologies and ways of doing business to help further State's goals (Innovation Fund), broaden participation in diplomacy (the Virtual Student Foreign Service), empower local civil society (TechCamp), and increase dialogue between U.S. diplomats, technologists, and innovators (Tech@State). Its Customer Liaison Division advocates for the technical and technological needs of domestic offices and overseas posts. 

Before joining eDiplomacy, Eric served as a Foreign Service Office Management Specialist (OMS) in the bustling Political Section at Embassy Moscow (2009-2011), providing logistical support for hundreds of visiting delegations and serving as the go-to tech guru in the office.  Eric served his first tour as an OMS in the Regional Security Office at Embassy Wellington (2006-2008). During this time, he also served as OMS to Ambassador William McCormick for eight months.

Eric holds an M.A. in Political Science from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and still considers Central and Eastern Europe his home away from home. He also holds a B.A. degree in Politics from Washington & Lee University,where he was also actively involved in community radio, television, and print media.

A native Bostonian, Eric is looking forward to celebrating a Red Sox World Series win in early November at KM World.
