Jim has worked with organizations to solve problems of organization and strategy in technology and knowledge intensive situations for over thirty years. He works on problems of organizational design and organizational change that grow out of the application of new information and communications technologies.
Among his experiences, Jim was a founding partner, Chief Knowledge Officer, and Chief Learning Officer of Diamond Management and Technology Consultants, Director in the Higher Education and Health Care practice of Huron Consulting Group, and Research Fellow with the Center for Information Technology and Strategy. Dr. McGee was also Clinical Professor of Technology, Innovation, and Electronic Commerce at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Jim has been blogging about technology, organization, and the management of knowledge work at
McGee’s Musings since 2001. Jim is also a Contributing Editor to the
FASTforward Blog, which focuses on the emergence of Enterprise 2.0. He is the co-author, with Larry Prusak, of
Managing Information Strategically.
Jim has both an MBA and Doctorate from the Harvard Business School in strategy and organizational design. Jim also has an undergraduate degree in Statistics from Princeton University.
