Tamara Smith is a principal with more than 23 years of experience in knowledge management, business process and technology with a specialized focus in the Professional Services and Consulting industries. Tamara joined Grant Thornton in January, 2008 to lead the formalization of knowledge management across the U.S. organization. Tamara is a member of the National Leadership Team.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Tamara was the founding partner of TSS Group. During her 14 year leadership, Tamara led many global, transformational knowledge management and technology initiatives for her clients. Tamara’s clients included 4 of the 8 global Professional Services firms, several North American consulting firms, and companies in the Retail, Banking, Real Estate, and Printing and Publishing industries.
The work that Tamara has done for her clients has been recognized internally in her clients’ annual reports and externally by the APQC, The Emerson Company, Fortune Magazine, Internet Week, Nielson Norman Group, Teleos/The KNOW Network, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, CNN Headline News, and most major newspapers including The New York Times, Chicago Tribune and The Seattle Times.
Prior to forming TSS Group, Tamara was a Manager in the Tax Technology Group of Arthur Andersen LLP where she spearheaded the knowledge sharing initiatives within the Tax, Legal and Business Advisory division. Tamara was also responsible for setting the worldwide standards, methodologies and processes for the Lotus Notes based knowledge sharing system and infrastructure, and the overall technology infrastructure.
Education
Tamara received her M.B.A. with concentrations in Marketing, Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Business, magna cum laude, from Loras College.
