Ronald McKinley, PhD, SPHR has over 30 years of experience as a Chief Human
Resources Officer (CHRO) and more than 35 years of experience in the field of human
resource management. He has served as the CHRO for: (a) The Peralta Community College
District, (b) The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, (c) Texas Children’s
Hospital, (d) The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, (e) APAC
Teleservices, (f) Long John Silver’s Restaurants, and (g) Taco Tico Restaurants (where he
also served as the Area Manager for the company’s 7 training units, with full P&L
responsibility). McKinley served as the Senior Business Consultant, human resources
management consulting Practice Leader, and General Manager of the Kansas City Office
for Williams and Company Consulting, Inc. In addition, he served as Williams and
Company’s CHRO. Other previous positions included Manager of Management
Development for the Marriott Corporation, and General Manager in Marriott’s Roy Rogers
Restaurant Chain. He is a former Marine and Vietnam Veteran.
McKinley has a Doctorate (PhD) in Administration and Management (with a specialty in
Organization Development), a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with a
concentration in Human Resource Management, and a Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in
Management. He holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources Lifetime Certification.
He is the former Chair for The International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
Technical Committee 260 - Human Resource Management, where he led the effort to create
and publish multiple international human resource management standards, and the Founding
Chair of ISO Technical Committee 304 – Healthcare Organization Management. He has
served on many boards to include: (a) Chair of the SW Ohio Workforce Investment Board,
(b) Vice Chair of Cincinnati Works (a nonprofit that helps underserved people achieve selfsufficiency),
(c) the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, (d) The Urban League of Cincinnati, and
(e) the Governor of Ohio’s Workforce Advisory Board.
He has served on the undergraduate and graduate faculties of The University of Texas
Medical Branch, Xavier University, Keller Graduate School of Mgmt., Morningside
College, Westmar University, Webster University, and Friends University.
McKinley has written and published many articles and delivered numerous presentations
throughout the United States and abroad.
