A collaborative environment for BI - KMW webcasts KMWorld Live
From database administrators and developers to data and business analysts, there are many individuals tasked with making sense of large amounts of data and putting it in useful formats that can help business stakeholders make smart decisions for the organization.
Lisa Waugh, IDERA senior product manager, explained how these teams can effectively collaborate to access important business data and share data visualizations across the enterprise during a recent KMWorld webinar.
Business intelligence (BI) combines data derived from the market in which a company operates (external data) with data from company sources internal to the business such as financial and operations data. Business analytics, a subset of BI, uses statistical and quantitative tools for explanatory and predictive modeling, rather than focusing on reporting functionality, she said.
The top three things enterprises need to foster are speed—as software developers and IT professionals are working closer together to change the process of infrastructure and development; security—in order to drive changes faster, achieve the biggest benefits by spotting vulnerabilities faster, and therefore lower security risk; and collaboration—by breaking down silos and enabling cross-functional teams to accomplish goals faster.
According to Waugh, IDERA Aqua Data Studio can help teams by broadening access to a variety of data sources; simplifying query and analysis tasks; providing a robust palette of graphs and charts for effective visualizations; and offering an environment for development, collaboration, and integration.
