FileNet takes AIIM on verticals - New initiative focuses on solutions delivery
Starting at AIIM, FileNet (www.filenet.com, Booth #841) is rolling out a new vertical market solution focus called FileNet Edge.
"We're launching it as an initiative, but it is really taking advantage of what FileNet has been doing over the years," said Lewis Carpenter, senior VP of worldwide marketing.
The first focus will be telecommunications--a market not often associated with FileNet but one in which the company has about 100 customers. Among the recent telecommunications deals, Lucent Technologies (www.lucent.com) selected the Panagon IDM software for long-term storage and fast, cost-effective access to all document information.
"The dependability of IDM products that enable us to make documents accessible to any employee is critical," said Gerry Marengo, district manager with Lucent's Enterprise Architecture Group. "We need immediate access to key accounting data such as invoices and other documents to be most productive. We also plan on providing our employees access to additional documents such as contracts and tax certificates through the Web, helping them to be more productive."
According to Carpenter, FileNet is also focusing on recruiting a number of senior people from vertical markets to "drive FileNet Edge."
Beyond FileNet Edge, the company is unveiling new versions of two of its products. Panagon Document Warehouse for SAP Version 4.0 document imaging storage and retrieval solution provides fast access to all needed company information whether it's "general purpose documentation or high-volume documentation." Version 3.0 of Visual Workflow is also being unveiled at AIIM along with benchmarking results.
On the partner and channel side, FileNet is launching an initiative called Power for Panagon. The logo certification will "encourage, support and certify" those marketing the IDM suite, according to Carpenter.
