Fujitsu brings high end to new set
Just because knowledge workers' duties include more than scanning documents into the system doesn't mean they want less out of a scanner than a high-end production model.
Following that rationale, Fujitsu Computer Products of America (www.fcpa.com, Booth #1925) introduces the M3097 DE (video) and DG (SCSI) departmental-level scanners at the AIIM Show.
"The need isn't any less," said John Hoye, director of scanner product management at Fujitsu. Features like image quality and paper handling are no less important to a workgroup, said Hoye, than they are to a production scan station. "This helps to bring imaging to more organizations," Hoye said.
New features of the M3097, which ships this month at $6,995,include duplex capabilities, combination flatbed and ADF for flexible paper handling, ScanRight Image Processing for recognition of text and image, and Fujitsu's ScanCare preventative maintenance program.
The M3097 DE and DG offer imaging solutions for departmental environments that require document archiving, forms processing, backfile conversion, folder applications, workflow, case management, rescan environments, electronic document distribution and scan-to-Web publishing. The scanners' simultaneously scan both sides of a document, and allow a competitive landscape speed of 80 images per minute.
Fujitsu sees a big opportunity in the departmental installation of scanners as capture tools.
"We're focusing a lot of time on this market, in addition to the continuing support for the rest of our product line," Hoye said.
