How NLP and Machine Learning Work Hand-in-Hand (Video)

In a presentation at Text Analytics Forum 2018, co-located with KMWorld, SAS storyteller Tuba Islam highlighted three key approaches to automation and machine learning. 

“Since the 1980s, machine learning has become more and more important with the invention of back-propagation, and new algorithms and applications, and also the improvement in the technology, in the usage of new resources on the database side, or the uses of CPUs together GPUs,” said Islam.

“All these technologies could help us to move into a more complex domain also for text. And now in the present day, we talk about deep-learning algorithms, really complex neural networks to process text and especially for classification-type applications—and cognitive systems being able to interact with machines in a more human-like way with dialog systems or applying sequence models to monitor, to have a kind of in-memory in the communications with the machines and devices.”
