Microsoft awards at KMExpo

The second annual Industry Solution Awards for Document Systems will be presented at KMExpo on Oct. 14. The awards are designed to recognize independent software vendors (ISV) in the document systems market who best utilize Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) technology, specifically Windows NT and SQL Server.

Solutions offered by the finalists-in the categories of document management, structured workflow and unstructured workflow-provide significant and tangible benefits to businesses and organizations managing volumes of unstructured information.

For the category of document management, the system must support the management of multiformat documents with a rich set of library services, including functions for check-in/check-out, versioning and access control.

Criteria for structured workflow include the ability to support high throughput, high storage requirements and a high degree of task similarity.

Unstructured workflow automates information flow in a way that facilitates work delivery and completion within strategic, functional or administrative business processes.

Finalists in document management are FileNet (www.filenet.com), Keyfile (www.keyfile.com) and PC DOCS (www.pcdocs.com). Workflow contenders are Action Technologies (www.actiontech.com), Software Guaranty (www.softwareguaranty.com) and TMSSequoia (www.tmsinc.com).
