Stop, look, listen and learn

In addition to the Empower'98 Conference, the KMExpo will offer educational venues on the show floor in the form of KM University. A "Meet the Experts" forum and three "theaters" comprise KM University: a vertical market solutions theater from KMWorld, Doculabs' Industry Solutions Theater and the Rheinner Theater.

Lighthouse Consulting Group (www.lhcg.com), in conjunction with its strategic alliance partner Ernst & Young (www.ey.com), will host a "Meet the Experts" pavilion (#1927), providing educational sessions, case studies and one-on-one Q&A opportunities with experts in the field of knowledge, document, records and information management.

Those sessions will focus on the organizational, cultural and technological impact and benefits of those technologies and disciplines on the business enterprise. Staffed by Lighthouse and E&Y, there will be experts on hand covering all of the technologies of KM as well as the vertical markets of banking, insurance, securities, government, telecommunications and manufacturing.

According to Albert Ray Edwards Jr., president of Lighthouse, "Lighthouse's job at KMExpo will be to provide clarity to the show attendees. As practitioners it is our task to help users see through the fog of technology and to realize the benefits of blending people, process and technology to effect their business strategy."

Explaining the value Lighthouse will provide, principal Elias Safdie said, "We intend to bring value to KMExpo by providing knowledge about best practices in KM, addressing the mistakes others have made in failed initiatives and offering our senior-most experts from both organizations to meet privately with attendees to help them sort out the value from the hype."

The KMWorld (www.kmworld.com, #2327) Vertical Market Theater will offer attendees a live look at case studies from manufacturing, financial services, healthcare and government sectors.

The Doculabs' (www.doculabs.com, #2127) Industry Solutions Theater will highlight reviews and analysis of KM tools. The Chicago-based analyst firm will also conduct live comparisons and analysis of the latest releases in workflow, scanning/data entry, document management, imaging, storage solutions and more.

The Rheinner Theater (www.techinfocenter.com, #2527) will offer the set of free Rheinner Guides and live sessions excerpted from the Rheinner nationwide two-day education program, covering topics including key imaging concepts, storage and output systems.
