APA redesigns its Web infrastructure

The American Psychological Association (APA) has implemented a new infrastructure for its Web site. The solution, provided by SDL and Siteworx, features SDL Tridion technology and consolidates multiple sites for the APA, centralizes Web functions and enables staff to more easily create new templates.

Siteworx created a flexible search utility for the Web site using Microsoft FAST enterprise search technology. The search capability is designed to handle the APA’s complex taxonomy and provides a level of "learned response" based on user activity. Siteworx also used a content migration solution from Kapow to transfer almost 20,000 content assets from the legacy site.

Dr. Tony Habash, executive director and CIO of the APA, says, "Siteworx proved to be a strong asset in the long process of re-architecting our Web infrastructure, which began almost three years ago. Its in-depth knowledge of the SDL Tridion WCM solution and enterprise search expertise with Microsoft’s FAST solution proved integral to our successful launch."

Jan Jaap Kolleman, CEO of the Web Content Management Solutions division of SDL, says, "The new site is not only cutting edge, it helps visitors access accurate content intuitively and quickly."
