Goal: to make a complex SharePoint migration easier

Empact IT has performed a complex SharePoint migration for a financial services client. The company chose Metalogix Migration Solutions to migrate 600 sites for the customer. The migration had no adverse effect on user productivity, according to Metalogix.

The financial services client turned to Empact IT to help it migrate three intranets from WSS 3.0 to SharePoint 2013. In addition to the actual upgrade and migration, the project included a hosting move, specialized customizations and integrated applications, and implementation of a new server environment.

Alicia Crowder, IM team lead with Empact IT, says, “Our financial services client had a very elaborate environment. Because it was a much more complex migration with many customizations in addition to the regular sites with a lot of content, we needed a better tool to help.”

After evaluating multiple options, Empact IT selected Metalogix Migration Solutions. Crowder explains, “We could not have completed this task without it and still have been able to extract as much of the metadata as we were able to extract without having to create some sort of custom software solution ourselves. That would have likely taken a year to fully conceive, plan, develop, test and deploy.”
