With 40 locations across six continents, the law firm Clyde & Co. wants to not only ensure that its 1,500 attorneys can share important legal documents securely, but also foster broader collaboration.

The international law firm sought to maintain an accurate record and rigorous control over access to documents, protecting client integrity and upholding the highest professional standards. Clyde & Co handles large, complex documents with hundreds of amendments that need to be checked in a short amount of time. While contributors from across the globe might access and amend those documents, it is important that data from clients are stored in local data centers. The documents are regularly shared and amended remotely via laptops and tablets while attorneys are traveling or working from home, requiring a high level of security and version control.

Clyde & Co. chose Workshare Professional to handle its document challenges. The solution compares and highlights changes across multiple versions of the same document, ensuring 100 percent accuracy, which is crucial for companies that must comply with stringent industry regulations. The application also helps to increase efficiency of both fee earning and administrative employees by freeing them of the time-consuming task of manually merging and checking revisions from different authors.

Chris White, global CIO at Clyde & Co, says, “Workshare is a great product that is as critical now as it was when I first used it as an early adopter 12 years ago. With tighter regulations around data protection and recent concerns over privacy issues, its new application suite enables Clyde & Co to remain flexible to meet the needs of the attorneys, while always ensuring the firm retains complete data control on exactly what content is shared, how it is accessed and where the data resides geographically.”

White adds, “Workshare has successfully integrated the sectors’ most powerful comparison and metadata removal applications into existing workflows and systems of record. This ensures that attorneys can collaborate more effectively using any device without worrying about data security or accuracy.”
