St. Charles beefs up security and compliance
To help comply with healthcare security regulations, St. Charles Health System in Oregon has chosen solutions from CynergisTek and NitroSecurity. The healthcare provider wanted a system that would address all critical data leakage points, while maintaining an enterprisewide, informed security program.

The joint system is said to be able to handle billions of records and correlate, report and analyze data in just minutes, while it offers security information and event management (SIEM), log management, database activity monitoring, application data monitoring and intrusion prevention. Steve Scott, IT security manager for St. Charles Health System, says, “Patient privacy has always been a top priority for our organization.
Now, in order to keep up with ever-expanding government regulations, security and compliance management has become an even more critical task. Utilizing CynergisTek and NitroSecurity’s solutions has made our organization more efficient because they easily integrate into our existing IT and security systems, allowing us to take a more proactive approach when it comes to protecting critical information and infrastructure.” The new solution will help ensure that St. Charles Health System protects patient privacy while complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinic Health (HITECH) Act.
