NoSQL big data from MarkLogic
MarkLogic has introduced Version 6 of its namesake NoSQL database, which has been engineered to facilitate scalable big data solutions. Key features include ACID transactions, horizontal scaling, real-time indexing, high availability, disaster recovery, government-grade security and built-in search.
The company highlights the following capabilities in Version 6:
Expedited application development. Java and REST APIs, as well as JSON support, enable developers to use their existing skills and work in their development language of choice. Version 6 also features new data visualization widgets to define the shape and dimensions of data, assess trends/patterns over potentially large data sets and explore data.
Additional analytics. Tools are included to speed and enhance data analysis, such as in-database analytics commonly used in numerical techniques. Included in Version 6 are out-of-the-box integration with IBM Cognos and Tableau to provide familiar tools to create reports, dashboards and explore MarkLogic data.
In-database MapReduce. Version 6 includes new functionality to create user-defined aggregate functions built upon MarkLogic’s parallel-processing architecture.
