Wisconsin city enhances communication and collaboration

The government of West Allis, Wis. has chosen business process management software to help automate and streamline its workflow, attract new businesses and communicate better with residents. The city has implemented Process Director from BP Logix.

West Allis, with a population of 60,000, wanted to make its building permit and application processes more efficient, streamlined and collaborative. City administrators also wanted more transparent communications and enhanced use of social media, text and e-mail for businesses, contractors and citizens. They felt that a more open workflow would increase accountability and sought real-time access to information.

BP Logix reports that by deploying its workflow and BPM solution, West Allis can eliminate duplication, enhance information sharing and leverage online communication and social media.

Jim Jandovitz, IT director for West Allis, says, “The proper use of technology can facilitate our goal and validate the success of these initiatives. In Phase I, we will be revising recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee orientation, drug testing and other HR processes. We will also begin identifying processes that streamline communication involving building code violations, new business applications and dog licensing. Phase II will incorporate new business application processes, address building permits and more integration into existing systems.”
