Brewing beer with IT help from the cloud

New Belgium Brewing Company has chosen a cloud computing platform to increase network availability and seamlessly connect its brewing facilities across the country. The employee-owned craft brewery is leveraging ViaWest’s KINECTed cloud computing solution to outsource its business-critical IT operations.

Although New Belgium has traditionally maintained an in-house IT system, it selected ViaWest to ensure maximum uptime to support its brewing facilities, while taking advantage of the power of the cloud within its infrastructure. Outsourcing also enables its internal team to improve and innovate processes.

Travis Morrison, director of IT for New Belgium Brewing Company, says, “In order to accommodate our growth nationwide and craft beer distribution coast to coast for the first time in our history, New Belgium required an expert partner in which to house our mission-critical IT environments. We found such a partner in ViaWest. Now, with our cloud solution, we can communicate with our brewing facilities seamlessly, improving our scalability and reliability.”

Based in Fort Collins, Colo., New Belgium Brewing Company expanded its operations in 2014 with a new $140 million brewery in Asheville, N.C., and plans full production there by the end of 2015.
