Police search more easily
A Connecticut police department has chosen an ISYS Search Software solution to provide its investigators and staff with advanced search functionality across investigative databases, document repositories and desktops.
The Branford Police Department initially deployed ISYS:desktop to enable rapid retrieval of documentation required for accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Staff found that the solution helped them quickly find documentation to support compliance with CALEA standards, according to a recent news release from ISYS.
"Given that our records management system didn't offer the level of sophistication we required for this particular project, we looked to the market to find a search engine that could do the job," says Sgt. Kevin Halloran, Branford Police Department. "ISYS:desktop provided us with exactly what we needed from a menu-driven search engine, and gave us the flexibility to use Boolean searches as needed."
Branford's criminal intelligence experts found that the new system also enables investigators to simultaneously search across multiple repositories, including its databases and case documents. The solution has helped the department save time locating and acting on internal information, Sgt. Halloran adds.
