Qlik Updates its Visual Analytics Platform

Qlik, a provider of visual analytics tools, is updating its Qlikview platform to strengthen its analytics capabilities.

“Customers are trying to involve more people in the analytics usage across the organizations and are trying to find a new ways to engage people in analytics but at the same time they are looking to ensure that they are doing that across a common platform and have governance within that landscape,” said James Fisher, VP of global product marketing.

Qlikview version 12 brings QlikView onto the same modern QIX Associative Data Indexing Engine (QIX) that powers Qlik Sense.  The update is available immediately and QlikView 12 Personal Edition is available for free download

By having Qlik’s complete product portfolio on the same engine, Qlik will deliver greater compatibility between its products and ensure that future investments made in the QIX engine for performance, security, and connectivity will benefit both QlikView and Qlik Sense customers.

“Qlikview changed the paradigm by really being able to reach business teams and provide an agile platform around business intelligence,” Fisher said. “Now what we’re able to do is open up that platform more broadly to different types of use cases from self-service to embedded analytics to collaboration and reporting.”

Other features include a next-generation QIX engine, security enhancements such as stronger encryption and improved encryption handling,  a powerful mobile experience and true device independence, improved clustering that upgrades scalability to support more nodes in a QlikView Server cluster, native connection to Web services such as social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), CMS systems (Alfresco, Documentum, Adobe), and other online services, and free and subscription-based data-as-a-service.

“We’re going to continue to invest in helping customers move beyond more traditional centralized deployments of business intelligence to really share that data model across self-service data visualization and across the growth that we see in embedded analytics,” Fisher said. “We’re very excited about this release.”
