The Five Guys JV burger chain recently implemented Looker to deliver enhanced customer experience, increase operational efficiency, and drive improved sustainability across the business.

Looker has helped Five Guys JV, a joint venture in the U.K. with Five Guys Enterprises and a part of the global Five Guys brand, to open access to data spanning sales, operations, business planning, and warehouse management, speeding up access to insights for decision making.

Providing a single, governed lens into an organization’s data, Looker offers a platform for analytics and business insights to every department, and integrates into applications to deliver data directly into decision making processes.

Five Guys JV needed a platform that could transform its culture around data and make data an essential component of the business model, said Fareldia Jefferies, integration and data warehouse manager, Five Guys JV. Looker has given everyone access to real-time, live data and insight and, based on that knowledge, the company has improved warehouse efficiency, reduced waste, and cut queue-times, which all factor into an improved customer experience, Jefferies noted.

Before Looker, Five Guys JV’s reporting was a time-consuming process that required input from the development team, resulting in bottlenecks. With Looker, Five Guys has optimized this process, cutting it from days to hours.

With access to reporting on-demand, the business can now manage staffing more accurately, precisely identifying regional trends—such as the requirement for more cashiers to manage daily demand in countries such as Spain—and reduce its impact on the environment through the reduction of waste, including plastic straws, paper bags, and cups.

Five Guys JV is also using Looker to help it leverage data to ensure new store openings don’t “cannibalize” sales at existing stores, improve revenue forecasting through better understanding of external events and seasonality, and drive more actionable insights that will improve the customer experience.
