Nexis+ AI transforms corporate research with extensive, effortless information retrieval and summarization

LexisNexis Legal & Professional, a leading global provider of information and analytics, is debuting Nexis+ AI, a generative AI (GenAI)-powered decision intelligence platform that enhances corporate research processes. Born from the fact that there is more data than ever, yet data consumers have less time to access that information, Nexis+ AI empowers these entities with highly efficient, highly effortless research processes, giving enterprises a competitive edge.

Nexis+ AI offers robust research, intelligence, and document summarization features designed to connect people to the information they’re looking for with ease. Underpinned by a massive repository of licensed news publications, corporate data on millions of companies, and a portfolio of over 20,000 licensed titles, Nexis+ AI goes beyond mining data for insights. The solution sits directly in the user’s workflow, capitalizing on LexisNexis’ sizable content sets to offer easy access and comprehension of an array of long documents, business and financial reports, legal news, and more.

“We seek to capitalize on the latest technology to resolve user problems,” said Dani McCormick, vice president of product, Nexis Solutions. “This product…is the fusion of looking at how we can significantly drive down time on tangible tasks that people have to do using the latest technology…We're absolutely laser-focused on trying to resolve a particular problem with each element of this product, and we are consistently talking to users about that problem.”

With Nexis+ AI, users can:

  • Rapidly research and analyze business, financial, and legal information and news
  • Summarize long form documents and extract meaningful insights and data points
  • Compile, organize, and share content
  • Generate first drafts or outlines of intelligence reports with a few clicks
  • Surface actionable business insights with speed and precision
  • Retrieval augmented generation (RAG)-based precision and reliability enhancement of information

As McCormick noted, the core of Nexis+ AI is based on over 700 hours of in-depth customer interviews, examining the exact pain points facing a variety of personas in the realm of enterprise research. Part of this thorough examination acknowledges that data consumers may be looking for more than one source, indicating a need for access to a diverse range of information while surfacing succinct, valuable insights.

Fortunately, LexisNexis—despite publishers and content owners more stringently protecting their intellectual property since the growth of GenAI—taps into its long-standing, extensive, and exclusive content licensing agreements with publishers to provide valuable source materials. This not only ensures that intellectual property rights are respected by each data consumer, it mitigates against the risk of AI hallucinations.

Publisher content is never used to train any AI model without their consent or permission, and is presented in context to preserve brand integrity, according to LexisNexis. Additionally, publishers are paid fairly for their content, regardless of it’s use by human or machine.

“We have been going to publishers proactively and talking to them about the development of this technology,” explained McCormick. “Those publisher conversations started incredibly early for us, because we were always mindful… [of wanting] to discuss with them what their hopes are [and] what they want us to do from a standpoint in dealing with their data…We are the custodians of their data, and we take that responsibility very, very seriously.”

With this release, LexisNexis is emphasizing their focus on transparency, data accuracy, privacy, and security, employing over 2,000 technologists, data scientists, and subject matter experts to develop, test, and validate its solutions, according to the company. If an enterprise decides to upload its own content to Nexis+ AI for its summarization capabilities, that data is held onto for only the snapshot of time required for analysis. Once insights are reached, the content is effectively destroyed.

Additionally, adhering to RELX Responsible AI Principles, LexisNexis forwards ethical AI by preventing the creation or reinforcement of unfair bias.
