EDB Envoy accelerates EDB journeys through natural language queries

EnterpriseDB (EDB), the leading Postgres data and AI company, is debuting a new, custom-built chatbot, EDB Envoy. Designed to accelerate time-to-value and the path to EDB solutions, EDB Envoy allows users to ask questions regarding their EDB journeys with their natural language, driving a seamless customer experience.

EDB Envoy is an intelligent tool that aims to better service EDB customers and the engineers behind their customer experiences. Acting as a repository of EDB website sources, users can ask the generative AI (GenAI) a question, where the large language model (LLM) then produces an answer with additional links for further research. The conversation that transpires between the user and EDB Envoy is pulled into a support ticket, where the user is then able to have a direct, informed interaction with an expert, according to EDB.

Users can ask EDB Envoy a variety of questions, including:

  • “What are the most valuable links?”
  • “What are the questions that are being asked most frequently?”
  • “What are the questions that are being asked most frequently, yet don't have the greatest depth of answers?”
  • “How do we actually tie this into support, such that if their questions aren't answered sufficiently?”
  • “How do they then engage with support?”

“Historically, EDB Technical Support has delivered answers and information to our customers and will continue to do so from an excellence and depth perspective,” said Jamie Watt, SVP of technical support. “However, we also wanted to be able to create a new mode of delivery that would allow for customers, potential customers, or just users to be able to ask questions that can comb through the excellence that EDB has contained within its documentation, blogs, knowledgebase, and the community documentation, without actually having to exert the effort from either an engineer or the customer going through the pain themselves.”

To ground the LLM, EDB Envoy only produces answers directly from the data set itself, driven exclusively by EDB content—not any personal data or confidential information from EDB customers or potential users. EDB emphasizes that it will continuously refine Envoy and what it is able to deliver, ensuring that it brings its users to the answers they’re looking for in an instant, according to the company.
