The Enterprise AI Sourcebook is here
IS ENTERPRISE AI ALL JUST HYPE? We don’t think so. AI has been around for a long time, and AI technologies such as natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, predictive analytics, speech technology, and deep learning are integrated into many business operations. AI applications impact business management by streamlining processes, increasing security, improving customer interactions, unlocking organizational knowledge, fostering innovation, and much more. Used well, these technologies automate workflows, improve decision making, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
Generative AI (GenAI) adds to the interest in enterprise AI as companies come to grips with the reality of adding GenAI to their technology mix. It promises to unlock hidden knowledge from internal sources, provide new insights from analyzing information in groundbreaking ways, and change how we think about business problems.
We haven’t even scratched the surface regarding reaching AI’s potential. If you have a creative mind, the willingness to learn, and the ethical imperative, the possibilities are endless. Someday, driverless transportation could debut, or doctors could have robot assistants during lifesaving surgeries or be able to tailor specific treatments to individual diseases. Maybe we could even upgrade ourselves with cybernetic AI parts. The future is exciting.
This guide to enterprise AI features articles by experts on the developments within their fields. It covers GenAI, large language models (LLMs), data quality, data stacks, knowledge graphs, vector databases, enterprise search, customer service, governance, and the future of work—all in the context of how these issues affect enterprises, no matter what their industry is. Solving complex problems, managing vast amounts of data, and finding new solutions are hallmarks of enterprise AI.
This Sourcebook presages another new endeavor—a new magazine called (no surprise here) Enterprise AI World. It will begin publishing in 2025 and will appear quarterly. More information about this magazine is forthcoming.
And don’t forget that the Enterprise AI World conference, Nov. 20–21 in Washington, D.C., is co-located with four other events: KMWorld, Enterprise Search & Discovery, Text Analytics Forum, and Taxonomy Boot Camp. We debuted the Enterprise AI World conference last year, reflecting that the rapid adoption of AI and machine learning technologies had caught the attention of the world. It is now becoming mainstream in businesses hungry for greater automation and intelligence.
At the Enterprise AI World conference, attendees learn from innovative AI use cases that continue to spread across every industry. IT and business leaders alike are embracing the promise of greater efficiency, agility, and innovation through the ability to unlock insights from information at unprecedented speed and scale.
We hope the articles in this Sourcebook, plus the sponsored content, provide readers with valuable insights into the topic of enterprise AI, surfacing current trends and future opportunities.
