Breaking down the realities of GenAI implementation at KM & AI Summit 2025
If there’s any clarity to be had about the evolving dynamic of generative AI (GenAI) and KM, it’s changing everything KMers thought they knew about information management.
During his KM & AI Summit session, “Enterprises With AI Action: Industry Insights,” John Chmaj, senior director, KM strategy, Verint, will explore how the new knowledgebase requires us to rethink how we add, access, and present content in the age of GenAI.
Unlock the future of innovation and knowledge management at the KM & AI Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona, March 17-19, 2025.
The KM & AI Summit—brought to you by the organizers of KMWorld—brings together thought leaders, technologists, KM practitioners, and industry experts to examine the latest trends and best practices for striking the balance between robust KM and AI innovation.
According to Chmaj, refining content and information strategies is a crucial component of enabling GenAI success.
“Organizations are challenged to figure out what content to put in, what to pre-filter, how to organize it, [and] how to get the most out of the generative AI capabilities while still preserving the need for clarity and compliance with any information they share with their customers,” said Chmaj. “Our session's going to be about how you get the value that you're looking for from AI.”
With new GenAI technology arriving daily, companies are seeking adoption to achieve a competitive edge—yet know little on how to integrate these solutions with their existing, and perhaps incompatible, data estates.
Chmaj explained that when companies start “stitching GenAI into their knowledge management processes, my belief is they will quickly run into content sources that are not fit for that purpose or content sources that are…inadequate or inappropriate to use GenAI to crawl that data.”
GenAI’s ample challenges require community engagement to tackle its layers of nuance. The KM & AI Summit poses a wealth of networking opportunities with those of AI expertise—which is something that Chmaj looks forward to.
The KM & AI Summit will cover a variety of relevant, fresh topics that enterprises are eager to understand. Chmaj put plainly—and with a sense of humor—that attendees will want to know how to adopt AI “into my business without screwing up my business.” More specifically, they'll want to know how to “make sense of all the technologies that are being pitched, and which ones are most relevant to my business and my organization.”
He further added that “AI has become sort of a playground for people. We're all messing around with this; some people are implementing it to a greater or lesser degree…what I and what Verint is pursuing is the best way to implement AI to generate relatively quick business outcomes.”
Chmaj’s session will take place on Tuesday, March 18, at 2:15 pm.
