Contegra embeds dtSearch Engine into latest KaleidoSearch update
Contegra announced a new KaleidoSearch upgrade that embeds the dtSearch Engine, adding more user interface layout options to ease document review when a search returns a very long list of matching files. The upgrade also seamlessly integrates with Contegra's recent server-side PDF hit-highlighting release.
Contegra developed the KaleidoSearch interface after years of custom development experience for dtSearch Engine clients. The initial release focused on user-friendly faceted search implementation.
Contegra subsequently added new display options and expanded file tagging and file download capabilities as well as adding Active Directory support, a word wheel and enhanced query builder options. A prominent litigation practice was the impetus behind this most recent release, according to the vendors.
"The litigation practice needed to streamline their document review when a search request returned thousands of files. The new interface saves review time and reduces screen fatigue resulting in much greater efficiency," said Rob Wiesenberg, president, Contegra Systems.
dtSearch's core product for developers, the dtSearch Engine, has over 25 full-text and metadata instant concurrent search options including special forensics-oriented features and extensive international language support.
dtSearch's proprietary document filters work with online and offline data spanning popular "Office" formats, website data, databases, compression formats and emails with attachments.
With 64-bit versions for Windows, Linux and macOS (including 64-bit Intel for Windows and Linux as well as 64-bit ARM for Windows and Apple Silicon ARM), the dtSearch Engine SDK can run on-premises or in a cloud environment such as Azure or AWS.
The KaleidoSearch upgrade also seamlessly integrates Contegra's updated server-side solution for highlighting search result hits in PDF documents.
"Our PDF highlighter offers a simple and efficient way to highlight search result hits in PDF documents without the need for end-users to run specific PDF review software,” added Wiesenberg. "The PDF highlighter can work with KaleidoSearch or independently with other dtSearch developer products."
In addition to its enterprise products, dtSearch offers developer solutions including multiplatform APIs. dtSearch does not, however, do custom development work.
"The Contegra team has undertaken many high-level custom development projects for our dtSearch Engine customer base," said David Thede, president, dtSearch. "We've seen even companies with substantial in-house development teams achieve major benefits from working with Contegra because of Contegra's specialized search design expertise."
