IU deploys SharePoint solution
Indiana University (IU) is implementing its first universitywide document management (DM) system. KnowledgeLake will deploy a SharePoint enterprise document management solution for the university.
By converting paper documents to a central electronic document repository, IU expects to improve its efficiency and effectiveness, as well as to decrease storage costs and shrink its ecological footprint. The university wants to complete the conversion before it relocates its Bloomington-based central IT work force to a new facility.
Indiana University Deputy CIO Laurie G. Antolovic says, “As our IT workforce prepares to move to a new state-of-the-art facility, we are embracing a new way of working that will be a model for the knowledge-age worker. Our partnership with KnowledgeLake will help us to streamline decades-old processes, increase our efficiencies and increase our financial and environmental stewardship.”
KnowledgeLake reports that IU decided to implement SharePoint because it wanted an easy-to-use interface, metadata tagging automation and workflow management. It chose to combine the collaboration software with KnowledgeLake’s document capture and imaging products for quick, secure storage and retrieval of documents from multiple sources. KnowledgeLake provides enterprise content management solutions exclusively for Microsoft SharePoint.
