Focuses on pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and medical instrumentation: NovaSoft shares spotlight with partners

Rather than greet show attendees from its own booth, NovaSoft Systems (www.novasoft.com) will be in one of its partners' booth at this year's AIIM Show. Just which partner's booth had not been decided at press time. Why is the company choosing that strategy? To emphasize the electronic document management system vendor's focus on partnering.

"We're making a big push to work much closer with partners," said Jay Coomes, director of product marketing and product management. "And we're focusing on three major markets--pharmaceuticals, high-tech manufacturing and medical instrumentation."

Although medical instrumentation is not one of the most commonly targeted vertical market segments, Coomes said NovaSoft is interested in it because it overlaps with both high-tech and pharmaceutical manufacturing. That overlap is tied to the regulatory requirements associated with the pharmaceutical market and the discrete manufacturing orientation of high-tech manufacturing.

NovaSoft has quite a lot going on right now with upcoming announcements concerning three IBM EDM solutions and a significant enhancement to the NovaWeb/Approve Java Applet front end to the company's integrated document management system.

At AIIM, Coomes said, "We really want to make sure we put together the right solution for the specific domain that each partner competes in. We're really shooting for a total solution. We also want to make sure that it's easy to build solutions on our platform."

NovaWeb/Approve is touted by NovaSoft as the first EDM system product that delivers on the promises of Java to simplify global enterprise administration by eliminating the costs and delays associated with installations and upgrades, enabling the integration of vast, multivendor environments.

According to Rich Benack, Lucent Technologies (www.lucent.com) project manager and member of the technical staff, "We're very pleased with NovaWeb/Approve's features, and believe that this exciting new product puts NovaSoft in a strategic position for delivering document and workflow management on the Web.

Added Carl Frappaolo, executive VP at The Delphi Group (www.delphigroup.com), "With the release of NovaWeb/Approve, NovaSoft sets the stage for the direction in which workflow and document management are heading. These technologies, leveraged in this manner, provide the foundation for virtual enterprises and the sharing of corporate knowledge across these enterprises."
