Cars.com, an online destination for car shoppers, has chosen a master data management (MDM) solution from Stibo Systems to improve its e-commerce infrastructure and enhance the customer experience. With the new system, Cars.com can handle more than 100,000 individual product references and related items with the goal of creating a more satisfying shopping experience for consumers and greater return for its advertisers and dealer customers.

Bill Swislow, CIO and senior VP of product at Cars.com, says, “Our goal is to maintain our position as the leading resource for car shoppers and the most effective solution for advertisers, so continuing to optimize the customer experience is incredibly important to us. We looked at several MDM vendors and ultimately selected Stibo Systems based on the proven success of the STEP platform, the company’s expertise in the automotive market and its ability to effectively integrate product information management in e-commerce.”

Cars.com, which sees more than 30 million visits to its site per month, will use STEP to map incoming data sets against each other to help consumers find the cars they want. Using the MDM system, Cars.com will establish tools to identify key inventory features, such as color, make, model, style and more, Stibo Systems reports.

Stibo adds that STEP will allow Cars.com to better define vehicles on its site and tie individual features to improve the match between potential buyers and relevant dealer advertisements. The company’s products and services include vehicle research information, consumer reviews, comparison tools, photo galleries and videos, unbiased advice and editorial content, classified advertisements, local dealer information, dealer reviews and more.
